Happy New Years!

With the New Year upon us, many will be making New Year’s Resolutions. We encourage you to consider how you can improve your oral health this year. Here are a few places to start:

Brush 2 times per day for 2 minutes

We recommend brushing for two minutes, twice a day. Today’s electric toothbrushes even include a timer to help meet this goal. 

Floss daily

You’ve been told each appointment to floss daily, but do you really? Start off the New Year by committing to flossing once a day for two weeks. It takes this time to build a habit. 

Chew sugarless gum

Believe it or not, we support gum chewing because it increases saliva flow that helps rinse your teeth after a meal. Just check to make sure it’s sugar free!

Eat a healthy diet

Eat a balanced diet, watch your sugar and refined carbohydrate intake, and limit between meal snacking.

Drink fluoridated water

Fluoride helps prevent cavities by making teeth more resistant to the bacterial acid attacks that cause cavities.
